Research and Design grant programme

Grant Programme

A core task for the Fund is to promote professional excellence. Continuous development of the design disciplines is a prerequisite for strengthening the position of design in everyday practice and contributing to high-quality spatial design at all scales. The SfA has therefore made it a top priority to support innovative initiatives in this field. The Research and Design Grant Programme has been set up for research projects and project proposals.

The projects concern current and future spatial issues. They focus on the design explorations of new programmes and conditions — related to design — in the field of interiors, architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, or combinations thereof.

A budget of € 500,000 is available in 2009.

Open Appeal
A number of times each year the SfA has an Open Appeal for applications concerning a specific spatial issue. The Open Appeal describes the assignment, and details the amount of subsidy available to elaborate a design proposal, the total amount available, the procedure to be followed, and the way in which — and by whom — the proposals will be assessed. The Open Appeal are made public through the SfA website and through a digital newsletter.

Contribution programme
The SfA has a contribution programme that covers applying for, assessing, granting and determining a financial contribution for a project. The contribution programme applies to the award of a financial contribution within the framework of this programme.
